Maximum size: 20 cm
Habitat
They live in wetlands, marshes, flooded meadows, lagoons, sea inlets,
pools and ponds. They feed on insects, crustaceans and molluscs.
They winter but they do not nest in the peninsula. They are migratory.
They are more scarce in winter, except in the marshes near the River
Guadalquivir. They favour the slimy flats.
They are included in the National List of Threatened Species, and their
conservation status is ‘Special Interest’.
