Habitat
These web-footed birds live in shallow marshes, salty-water lakes and
wetlands. They winter on their way through in the Delta del Ebro and the
Marismas (marshes) del Guadalquivir. They breed in Fuerteventura (Canary
Islands) and in the north of Africa.
They are becoming more and more scarce in Doñana. They can be
seen in summer in marshlands and in salty-water ponds near the Guadalquivir.
They are included in the Red List of the Vertebrates of Andalusia,
extinct as breeding species in the south of the peninsula.
