In the southern half of the Iberian Peninsula, they usually live in
clearings and open-lands in high mountains scrubs and heathlands with brooms
or scarce vegetation, steppes, scrublands, barren areas, wastelands, moorlands,
meadows, pastures, cropland surroundings, dunes and riverbanks. They settle
in high altitudes in Sierra Nevada, even above the 2,500 m altitude.
They can also be seen in lowlands during the migration period. They
do not breed in the south.
During the migration period they are further spread and they can be
seen in coastal grasslands, scrublands, clear spaces, pastures, meadows
