Habitat
This species is always related to
water, although they have adapted to
urban areas. They can be seen near
man-made or natural canals, irrigation
canals or even fountains, ponds,
pools, lagoons, riverbanks,
dams.
They can even be seen on trees in
cities and other human settlements, or
dwelling in buildings, orchards,
vegetable gardens, cottages, gravel
pits, etc. They can be often found in
parks with fountains or ponds.
They feed on invertebrates they catch
around riverbanks and in croplands.
They are included in the National List
of Threatened Species.
