Habitat
They can be seen in dams, lagoons, ponds, pools and marshes,
and sporadically near the coast, where they can be seen in
couples. The male is prettier, with silvery-coloured
plumage. Both, male and females, have light-grey beaks.
They can sometimes be seen in solitary in marshes and
wetlands which they use as refuge in their migrations.
They feed mainly on vegetal. They hibernate in the Iberian
Peninsula.
They are abundant in Doñana between August and April,
anywhere with plenty of water, such as ponds, pools, marshes
or lagoons.
