Habitat
They live in marshlands,
lagoons, pools, ponds, dams,
rivers.
They feed on fish. They are
excellent divers and they are
often seen
in lagoons fishing as they
dive for several minutes under
water, getting
to the surface to take short
breaths. During reproduction
they are zealous
and watchful of their clutch
of eggs, and they do not leave
their brood
until they become young
adults, grown up chicks.
They are plentiful. They can
be seen by lakesides, in
lagoons and permanent
waters, as well as ponds and
marshes where water is deep
enough for them
to dive.
