Habitat
They live in meadows, pastures, bushy scrublands, steppes, pine-forests,
areas with junipers, as well as derelict croplands, particularly in the
Thermo-Mediterranean zone, and Meso-Mediterranean zones, although they
can also be found in the Supra-Mediterranean and Oro-Mediterranean
areas.
They spend the summer and they breed throughout the Iberian Peninsula.
They are regular visitors in the Balearic Islands, although rather scarce.
In the Canary Islands they are accidental. They winter in Africa.
They are included in the National List of Threatened Species, and their
conservation status is ‘Special Interest’.
