Habitat
They can be seen in woodlands, spinneys,
parks and gardens, usually
near forests up to 1,700 m of
altitude.
They feed on seeds, acorns, plants,
molluscs and insects.
Distribution: Asia, Europe, India, and
the north and west of Africa.
They are shy of humans, even though they
are often found in areas near
human settlements.
