Little Ringed Plover
Size: 15,5-18 cm
They live in wetlands, dams, watercourses, reservoirs, peat
bogs, deltas and estuaries, both near the sea and upstream,
the edge of lagoons and shallow-water ponds.
They feed mainly on insects running around with their swift,
short steps. The Palearctic sub-species curonicus can
be found in summer in the Iberian Peninsula and in the
Balearic Islands (Díaz et al., 1996). This sub-species
winters mainly in Western-Africa, from Mauritania to Chad,
as well as the north of Congo.
They can also be found in paddy-fields.
